Kanav Khajuria - Head Chef

Kanav began his culinary journey in his homeland of India completing his Bachelor in Hotel Management and gaining experience in a range of well-established international brand hotels such as Sheraton and Marriott.

Having relocated to the other side of the world to gain international exposure, Kanav has called New Zealand home for Nine years spending time in New Plymouth, Martinborough, Abel Tasman and Lake Tekapo before settling down in Christchurch. During his Nine years, he has worked in several restaurants, resorts and hotels.

Kanav joined the Town Tonic team at the end of February 2021 and is looking forward to working with the abundance of fresh, seasonal produce on offer in the Canterbury region. His menus will have a focus on simple, well executed dishes that are textural and bold. This year, you will see him develop menus heavily influenced by European cuisine incorporated with iconic New Zealand flavours.
